General Insurance

What types of insurance do you offer?

We offer a comprehensive range of insurance products including life insurance (whole life, endowment, education, critical illness, last expense), medical insurance, motor insurance, travel insurance, retirement planning, and estate planning (trusts and wills).

How do I get a quote?

You can get a quote by visiting our /quote page, selecting the type of insurance you need, and filling in the form. Our team will contact you within 24 hours with a personalised quote.

Can I have multiple insurance policies?

Yes. Many clients have multiple policies covering different needs, for example, a whole life policy for inheritance, a medical cover for healthcare, and a motor policy for their vehicle. Each policy serves a different purpose.

How do I make a claim?

Contact us as soon as possible after the insured event occurs. We will guide you through the claims process, help you gather the required documents, and liaise with the insurer on your behalf.

What is the difference between an insurance agent and a broker?

An agent represents one insurance company. A broker represents you, the client, and works with multiple insurers to find the best cover for your needs. We operate as independent advisors, comparing options across insurers.

Life Insurance

What is whole life insurance?

Whole life insurance provides permanent coverage for your entire life. It pays a lump sum to your beneficiaries upon your death, plus any accrued bonuses. Unlike term life, it does not expire.

What is the difference between whole life and term life?

Term life covers you for a fixed period (e.g., 10 or 20 years) and expires. Whole life covers you for your entire life, whenever death occurs, the benefit is paid as long as the policy is active.

What is an endowment policy?

An endowment policy combines life insurance with disciplined savings. It pays a guaranteed amount at maturity or on death, whichever comes first. You choose the term and payout schedule.

What does critical illness cover pay for?

Critical illness cover pays a lump sum directly to you upon first diagnosis of a covered condition such as cancer, stroke, or heart attack. The money replaces lost income and covers recovery costs.

What is last expense cover?

Last expense cover provides a cash payout within 48 hours of death to cover funeral and burial costs. It can cover the principal member, spouse, children, parents, and siblings.

Can I cover my children under a life policy?

Yes. Education policies cover your child's future school fees. Last expense policies can include children from 2 weeks old. Some whole life policies allow adding children as dependants.

Medical Insurance

Do I need medical insurance if I already contribute to SHA?

SHA provides a statutory baseline. Private medical insurance adds hospital choice, private room access, direct specialist access, broader outpatient cover, and overseas referral benefits that SHA does not offer.

Can I get medical cover if I have a pre-existing condition?

Yes. Most plans cover pre-existing conditions after a 12-month waiting period. Senior plans are built with higher acceptance thresholds and chronic condition management included.

Does medical insurance cover maternity?

Yes, as an optional add-on. Maternity benefit covers antenatal care, delivery (normal and caesarean), and postnatal care. A 10-12 month waiting period typically applies.

Can I insure my parents separately from my own plan?

Yes. Senior and elderly cover plans are standalone, designed specifically for adults aged 64 and above. They do not require you to be on the same policy.

What is the difference between inpatient and outpatient cover?

Inpatient covers hospital admissions, surgeries, and overnight stays. Outpatient covers GP visits, specialist consultations, lab tests, and prescribed medication without being admitted.

Motor Insurance

Is motor insurance compulsory in Kenya?

Yes. Every vehicle on Kenyan roads must carry at least Third-Party Only cover under Cap 405 of the Laws of Kenya. Driving without valid insurance is a criminal offence.

What is the difference between TPO and comprehensive cover?

TPO covers only third-party liabilities. Comprehensive cover includes all TPO benefits plus accidental damage, theft, fire, windscreen, personal accident, and towing for your own vehicle.

Do I need separate insurance for my Uber or Bolt car?

Yes. PSV taxi and ride-hailing vehicles require specific PSV cover with Passenger Legal Liability. A private use policy will NOT cover commercial use, and claims will be declined.

What is an excess and how does it work?

Excess is the amount you contribute towards a claim before the insurer pays the rest. For own-damage claims, this can range from Kshs. 5,000 to 100,000+. An excess protector eliminates this cost.

What is a COMESA Yellow Card?

A COMESA Yellow Card extends your third-party cover to East and Southern African countries. It is mandatory at every border crossing if you plan to drive outside Kenya.

Retirement & Estate Planning

Can I access my pension early?

Generally, pension funds become accessible upon retirement (typically from age 55), disability, emigration, or exit from employment. Early withdrawal may be subject to conditions and tax implications.

Is NSSF enough for retirement?

NSSF provides a baseline but is unlikely to sustain your current lifestyle in retirement. A private pension plan supplements NSSF and gives you control over your retirement income.

Do I need a will if I already have a trust?

Yes. A will covers any assets not placed in the trust. It acts as a safety net. Together, they provide comprehensive coverage for your estate.

What happens to my insurance payout, does it go through probate?

If the payout is directed to a trust or named beneficiary, it bypasses probate entirely. If it goes to your estate, it will go through probate.

How quickly can beneficiaries access funds from a trust?

Funds can be released within days of a valid request, provided the request aligns with the trust rules. There is no probate delay.

Travel Insurance

Do I really need travel insurance?

Yes. Medical treatment abroad can be extremely expensive. Travel insurance protects you from unexpected costs including medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost baggage.

Can I buy travel insurance after I have started my trip?

Some insurers allow purchase after departure, but trip cancellation benefits will not apply retroactively. It is best to buy before you travel.

Does travel insurance cover COVID-19?

Coverage for COVID-19 varies by insurer and plan. Some policies cover medical treatment for COVID-19 while others may exclude it. Check the policy wording before purchasing.

Does it cover adventure sports and activities?

Standard policies typically exclude extreme sports. If you plan to do adventure activities, check if the policy offers an add-on or look for a specialist adventure sports policy.
